Moby Dick Cover
Redesign
Overview
This project is a conceptual redesign of Herman Melville's classic novel Moby-Dick.
The goal was to move away from traditional, literal interpretations of the story and instead create a more
modern and visually striking cover that captures the themes of obsession, scale, and isolation.
Rather than focusing directly on the whale itself,
the design emphasizes the narrative's psychological weight.
The intention was to create a cover that feels atmospheric and symbolic,
allowing viewers to engage with the story on a deeper level rather than relying on obvious imagery.
The final design presents Moby-Dick in a way that feels modern and conceptual
while still respecting the core themes of the original text.
By focusing on mood, symbolism, and composition,
the redesign offers a fresh perspective on a well-known literary work.
Concept
Moby-Dick is ultimately a story about obsession and man’s struggle
against something far greater than himself.
The redesign reflects this by focusing on contrast, scale, and tension.
Visual elements are used to communicate the overwhelming presence of the whale and the insignificance of the individual,
without needing to explicitly show every detail.
The design leans into minimalism and negative space to create a sense of depth and unease.
By simplifying the composition, the focus shifts toward the emotional and psychological aspects
of the story rather than just the narrative events.
